Of the many contacts you will make at GSW, you will find that your DSO, ADSO, and PDSO will be your most valuable contacts concerning immigration matters. These individuals will be able to advise you on the options you have as an international student, and assist you with accomplishing your goals within the regulations of the USCIS. Please remember that your DSO, ADSO, and PDSO are NOT employees of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
What is a DSO?
DSO refers to a Designated School Official. Designated School Officials are available to help you find answers to your immigration concerns. Please only use the DSO pertinent to your classification. Your DSO is the individual that will endorse the back of your I-20 when you prepare to leave the U.S.
What is an ADSO?
ADSO refers to the Associate Designated School Official. The ADSO is responsible for gathering your information and entering it into SEVIS. Most of your correspondence regarding your immigration-related material will be from your ADSO. Please be sure to reply to any requests or letters in a timely matter.
What is a PDSO?
The PDSO or Primary Designated School Official for Georgia Southwestern State University is Mrs. Lois Oliver, Assistant Registrar. If your DSO and ADSO are unavailable, you may contact Mrs. Oliver in the Registrar’s Office. The PDSO can endorse your I-20 in the absence of your DSO.
Who are my Designated School Officials?
In addition to your Designated School Officials, you will meet many more faculty and staff members who will be able to assist you with questions you may have regarding policy, procedures, and cultural adjustments. We encourage you to meet as many people as possible and form a network of individuals who can help you in various situations. Click here to visit our campus directory.
