Academics
Teaching styles in the U.S. are much different than those in other countries. You will find that students and professors often interact throughout course lectures. Students are encouraged to ask questions or add input to the lecture discussion. Professors are available to assist students with questions or assignments during posted office hours or by appointment.
Your class grade is usually derived from your test/quiz scores and the quality of your completed assignments. Many professors also factor in attendance and class participation as part of the student’s grade. It is important that you attend each class session in order to take notes, receive assignments, and hear important announcements.
Culture
The American culture is probably a lot different from your own culture. However, you are encouraged to keep an open mind and try new things. You will find that many American students are curious about your culture. Sharing your experiences is a great way to make new friends!
