STEM Degrees at GSW

Biology offers a B.S. Degree in Biology and a minor in Biology.  These provide preparation for work in zoological, botanical, ecological, medical, dental, veterinarian and other vital areas.

Chemistry offers a B.S. in Chemistry and a minor in Chemistry and preparation in the fields of environmental analysis, research and development, safety, medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, production and management.

Geology and Physics offer a B.S. in Geology and preparation in the geosciences and graduate work in geology.  Many diverse options await the graduates from environmental geology and hydrogeology to oceanography, paleobiology, and petrology.

Engineering Dual-Degree offers a cooperative degree with the Georgia Institute of Technology.  Students generally complete 3 years at GSW and 2 years at Georgia Tech, which leads to a B.S. Degree in Math or a specific science and a B.S. Degree from Georgia Tech in a specific engineering discipline.  The more popular engineering fields being:  Aerospace, Biomedical, Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Industrial, Material Science, Mechanical, and Nuclear.

Information Technology offers a B.S. Degree in Information Technology.  This program prepares students to work in network administration, information security, telecommunications, web development, and computer graphics.

Computer Science offers a B.S. in Computer Science, which prepares students to design and develop solution algorithms, design and build computer systems, design and translate languages, and to use languages and computers efficiently to solve a variety of otherwise tedious and complicated problems.

Mathematics offers a B.S. in Mathematics, a B.S. in Mathematics with Option in Industrial Mathematics, a B.S. in Mathematics with Teacher Certification, and a Masters in Education in Secondary Mathematics.  Career opportunities are many and varied.  Banking, business, computer science, actuarial science, insurance, civil service and education are just a few.
