Essay Test Workshop
The Writing Center will present a workshop on Essay Test writing on Tuesday, February 12th, 2013 in ACE 104 at 7:00pm. In this workshop we will cover strategies for performing well on tests that are essay based, or require short essay answers. We will go over ways to prepare before the test, time management strategies for during the test, and how to effectively compose, revise, and polish during the exam. We will also go over how to read essay questions and how to answer them more effectively. We hope to see you there.
Plagiarism Workshop
The GSW Writing Center will present a workshop on plagiarism on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 7:00 pm in ACE 104. We welcome everyone to come out to learn about the basics of plagiarism and how to properly implement sourcing and citations into your bodies of work. We will be briefly covering several different common plagiarism occurrences and describing how to find errors within your own writing process. To help better understand the process, the Writing Center will cover some case studies during the workshop as well. We hope you come out and enjoy the presentation, take away knowledge to share, and improve your writing process!
Citation Workshop
The Writing Center will be presenting a workshop exploring the concepts of citation on March 6th at 7pm in ACE 104. Join us as we discuss the different styles of citation, the creation of citations, and the importance of citation. We will cover the basic similarities and differences of APA and MLA in order to instruct the audience on how to better cite his/her sources whether for in-text citations or bibliographic citations. We will also present the audience with a basic understanding of what materials a writer needs in order to cite properly. We will then provide examples of common citations, such as books, periodicals, anthologies, etc. To end the presentation, we will offer other resources for citation help. We hope to see you there.
Research Writing Workshop
The GSW Writing Center will present a workshop on writing research essays on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at 7:00pm in ACE 104. We will discuss how to get started on a research paper. We will present ways to identify credible sources as well as where to look for credible sources, including a look at GALILEO. We will also talk about how to incorporate sources into a paper, such as quoting and paraphrasing. In addition, we will do some group activities to foster a better understanding of strategies covered in the workshop.
