GSW TRiO/SSS employs undergraduate students to work as tutors. Tutors are assigned to meet with TRiO/SSS program participants on an individual basis. Tutors must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA, have earned a minimum of 25 hours from GSW, and have earned an A or B in the course in which they are hired to tutor. The prospective tutor must complete an application, and submit a transcript (may be unofficial) and have a recommendation from the professor who teaches the course. All prospective tutors must be patient, flexible, and sensitive to the needs of the TRiO/SSS participants. Upon hire, tutors will be required to attend orientation and trainings. Tutor employment applications are accepted by the TRiO/SSS office on a rolling basis.
GSW TRiO/SSS do utilize work-study students as well. Students should check to see if they are eligible for work study positions by checking with the Financial Aid Office at Georgia Southwestern State University located on the second floor of Sanford Hall.
